The response of Michigan fans, perceiving themselves as victims, reflects a broader pattern where leadership actions can amplify fan reactions. For instance, Michigan’s coach, visibly emotional after a win against Penn State, may have inadvertently nurtured a sense of embattlement among fans. This public display of emotion, while genuine, can sometimes be interpreted by fans as a call to rally against perceived injustices, fueling an aggressive us-vs-them mentality.

Snyder’s distinctive style and public persona have contributed to a small but loud, cult-like following.
